Here at the Wee Yoga Room, we offer many different types of massage. If you are unsure as to what type you require, check out our descriptions below.
Deep tissue massage:
Sports massage is a strong massage therapy that can help to reduce the stress and tension that builds up during physical activity such as keep fit or running. It can also help in advance of training to help reduce event injuries. Post training, sports massage can help speed healing and reduce pain and discomfort during the rehabilitation process. This treatment isn't just for the sports person, it can also help anyone in a stressful or physically demanding job. Sports massage can be deep and intense and can involve stretching and trigger point response techniques such as Acupressure and Shiatsu. The practitioner will also use soft tissue techniques to help manage acute pain and chronic injuries. With this blend of techniques, the therapist can help the client to maintain or improve their range of motion and muscle flexibility.

Thai massage:
Sometimes known as 'lazy man's yoga', traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions and the clients clothes remain on during the session. The therapist uses their palms, elbows and feet to open up joints and to stretch muscles. The overall effect is one of feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed and centred,. Physically you will feel more flexible and tension will be alleviated.

Reflexology:
Reflexology is a gentle treatment applied to the feet and occasionally to the hands. It treats the body as a whole and as a result induces a state of balance and harmony.
It is based on the idea that there are reflex points on the feet and hands corresponding to all parts of the body-- including the organs. The therapist will stimulate the organs and systems through application of thumb and finger pressure.
Reflexology can bring relief to a wide variety of conditions and is suitable for all ages. Regular treatment can help with physical issues and also with emotional states such as depression and stress.

Indian head massage:
Indian head massage is a gentle technique that can help to relieve stress and promote over all well being. It is part of the ancient Indian system of Ayurvedic medicine that aims to re-establish the body's natural balance.
Indian head massage focuses on the head, neck, shoulders and upper back, arms and face . The different Indian head movements and pressure points help to relax the muscles and stimulate the blood circulation in the body. This will leave you feeling relaxed and energised.

Swedish massage:
Swedish massage has four main strokes which can be practised all over the muscles of the body which can be relaxing and soothing but can also be used as a method of relieving genuine muscle tension; therefore both light and deep massage can be used depending on what the client requires. We can offer a full body massage but can also concentrate on just the one area if the client has a particular area of tension.
Swedish massage is lighter than deep tissue massage and so is more geared towards people who are interested in relaxation.

The key to improvement in symptoms is often addressed by supporting changes that bring about balance in the whole body to restore and improve vitality and wellbeing. Craniosacral therapy can help to improve the functioning of the nervous system, relieving pain and improving mobility. IT has been used to treat a variety of conditions, both physical and psychological.
